Your Guide to Getting a Great Headshot – The Woodlands Headshot Photographer

Getting a headshot ranks about last on what a business person wants to do on a busy day. However, if you’re here it’s because you know you need a great headshot on social media, your website, or your business directory to make a good impression and be present on your business management page. How to make that headshot less painful? Be prepared with this handy guide on how to make your headshot session a success!

GET YOUR HEADSHOT DONE EARLY IN THE DAY
Not only is the light better in the early morning, but you’ll get your headshot taken care of before the day gets it’s claws into you. Before the emails, the afternoon meetings, and the stress of things-left-undone at the end of the day, the early morning is when you are at your freshest and ready to tackle the business day.

DRESS FOR THE VIBE YOU WANT TO GIVE OFF
If you typically wear a business suit to work, you’ll want to dress like you’re ready to do business or meet a client. This helps present a cohesive look for your business presence. If you don’t wear suits and ties, then feel free to be more casual and creative – and wear a pop of colour as well!  That always translates well on the camera.

DON’T FORCE AN UNNATURAL EXPRESSION
A natural smile is always best, so don’t feel like you have to come off as too perky or too serious. People want to see the genuine you!  Your photographer should be able to relax you and have you posed in a way where you look natural, so your smile will be genuine.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR A RAINCHECK
If you’re not feeling well, or you don’t feel you look your best on the day of the shoot, don’t be afraid to contact the photographer and ask for a delay. You should be feeling well rested, healthy, and at your best when you get your headshots done. Being unwell, feeling sick, or just being overstressed will not bring out your natural smile. It’s ok to need a day or two to get back on track!

THE LOCATION SHOULD MATCH YOUR STYLE AND BUSINESS APPROACH
You don’t need a stuffy, studio style headshot if that’s not you! Taking it outdoors is the hottest trend in headshot portraits these days, or in the comfort of your own office. Take it to the streets for a cosmopolitan look, or in a natural environment for more casual, approachable pictures. The fresh air and sunlight makes for a wonderful backdrop for your headshots!
