Rooftop Senior Session the Woodlands Photographer

We had a gorgeous day for this senior’s pictures, especially at the end of the evening when we ended up on the rooftop with a view of the Woodlands skyline. Senior boys are fun to shoot, and they always have so much personality. Moms always worry their sons aren’t too willing for the photoshoot, but they always end up with fantastic photos and have a great time, even suggesting poses!

The Woodlands High School Photographer Senior Boys

Sessions for senior boys is really one of my fave types of shoots – the guys are always laid back  and willing to please their mamas to get some great shots to remember senior year. The hour flies by, and they cooperate so well when asked to do simple poses. And posing for seniors boys is SO easy they won’t feel like they’re being posed at all. There are some go-to poses that I always use for my senior guys that are guaranteed to please both the seniors and the parents. We aim for natural, relaxed and easy going to capture their natural charm.

Hunter was no exception! A really nice guy who patiently put up with my camera for an hour with a smile and no complaints. Thanks for the great session!

Gorgeous Senior Session The Woodlands

This amazing girl was so easy to photograph with her  glowing skin and easy smile! A Woodlands High senior on her way to university next year, she brought along some of the most photogenic colours as well – the deep rich burgundy and light blue are very camera friendly. And of course, her letterman jacket makes the perfect addition to remember her high school days forever! Bring yours along for your senior photoshoot!

The Musician Senior Photographer The Woodlands

Time flies, and I’m seeing the younger siblings of my past senior clients coming in for their turn! This young man is the younger brother of one of my seniors from a previous graduating class from the Klein area, you can see big brother’s senior pictures here. For his turn, this class of 2017 senior brought his own props along too – his guitar! I always have fun taking senior pictures that showcase a hobby or skill, it makes the portraits so much more personal and representative! I’m so pleased I could meet this family and the boys have a matching set of great portraits for their wall canvas collage. And mom now has some great wall art!

Bright and Colourful Senior Session – The Woodlands Photographer

This sweet senior had a perfect day for her senior session in the Woodlands and Spring — sun soaked, light breeze, perfect temperature. Her outfit choices are worth noting here – notice how gorgeous that bright purple colour looks? How it makes the image pop so much more, and adds interest? Adding a pop of colour to your senior session makes a huge difference in the final image!  She also matched her outfits to the various backdrops very well. For the sunny, natural setting she wore neutrals and soft colours, against the more urban backdrops she had black accessories, dark pants and boots. Pulling it all together like this makes for a successful senior session!

Choosing Your Wall Portrait Size, Style and Format: The Woodlands Portrait Photographer

The family portrait is an important investment, so it’s essential to ensure you have carefully considered the overall look, style and proportion for the final piece. When your family, senior, engagement or maternity portrait session is completed, I invite clients for an in person Viewing Appointment so I can personally help you choose the perfect size, ratio and medium for your wall portrait. I’ll show you samples of the products I offer, so you can inspect and touch the products yourself.

For gallery wrapped canvases, these come ready to hang and you do not need to frame them. Metals are designed to be hung without a frame to show off the superior gloss, and the sturdy waterproof and UV resistant design means you don’t have to worry about sun or water damage. For photographic prints I offer complimentary styrene mounting so you can mount your portrait on the wall without a frame, and it’s thin enough to put in wall frames.  Here is a comparison of a senior portrait from a session in the Woodlands.

WITH FRAMES

OPTION 1:  By using a larger frame, you can highlight your wall portrait with accent matting around a smaller size print. The portrait keeps  it’s original ratio and composition intact with matching coloured mat before being inserted into a  frame. The matted frame means you don’t have to crop the original shot. There is a wide variety of colors and styles to choose from, for custom or traditional matted frames.

OPTION 2: Without matting. This option zooms in larger on the image, but crops out some of the background and the subject.

WITHOUT FRAMES

 

OPTION 1: A mounted print, metal or canvas without the frame. The traditional camera ratio for older cameras was 4:5, which created the infamous 8×10 desk print. As a wall portrait, your image could be anything from a 16×20 to a 32×40 or larger. Since the camera shoots at a 2:3 ratio, this crops your image.

OPTION 2: A mounted print, metal or canvas without the frame, left in it’s original composition and ratio. This size works well for image of standing subjects, where you want to keep the surrounding environment. For this image, it’s the best choice for this particular image to keep the beautiful field around her.

Here at Shannon Stroubakis Photography in Spring and the Woodlands, my goal is to create a photoshoot for your senior pictures that gives you what you want and what you need so you’re entirely happy with your senior pictures.  I have a special mini shoot designed just for them. An hour in length, a small collection of amazing photos for your graduation cards and announcements, a proofbook so you have them in printed form, and still enough time to get several outfits in there as well.

Natural Senior Pictures Outdoors in Spring, Texas

This set is the second half of this lovely senior’s photoshoot, after we moved from town to the country! She had the *perfect* day for senior pictures. Not cold, not hot, beautiful cloud cover with a touch of golden sun, and a light breeze — amazing day! This field was the right location for a more natural and laid back set to add to the classic set at the Waterway. Dressed down, wearing organic and natural shades of blue and green and brown, she looks amazing and right at home in the flowers and field!

Such gorgeous hazy warm light on that amazing long hair!

Au Naturale Boho Senior Session in Spring, Texas

This amazingly stylish senior had a clear vision for part of her senior session — this bohemian styled theme session, complete with white dress, flowers and bare feet. With her long gorgeous hair, and pretty posing, we ended up with a breathtaking set of boho senior pictures along with her regular set of senior portraits from the first half of her session. Country and Boho – Spring TX Senior Portraits

With unlimited outfit changes and two locations, you are sure to get variety in your senior portraits when you book a session here! This senior had the first part of her session in trendy clothes and an outfit to homage her acceptance to Baylor U!  For the second portion of her senior photoshoot,  we took it out to the country fields for a more natural look and some beautiful boho styling.

Classic and Timeless Senior Pictures in the Woodlands, Texas

What I love about meeting each graduating class of high school seniors for their senior pictures is how unique they all are and how they bring that to their senior portraits. Fun and quirky, classic and traditional, carefree and smiley, each senior has their individual personality that just shines through and makes their photos different.  For each high school senior, I take into account their personal style and carefully pose each senior in a way that reflects that.  This Woodlands High senior was all class and grace, with such a sunny and smiley personality that her photos can’t help but show her sense of humour and beauty!

Beauty and brains, this gracefully tall gal is off to study Pre Med at Johns Hopkins this year. Check out the first half of her senior session, before we headed out to a field for some nature shots!

Fresh and Natural Senior Photography – Spring, Texas

This gorgeous senior from The Woodlands brought so many beautiful outfits and ideas for her senior pictures, we had a lot of fun running around this pretty location to fit them all in! One of this year’s hottest trends is the romper, and this senior showed her style with her wardrobe choices! With the Luxe Senior Session, you get treated to professional hair styling and make up application, so this senior was picture-perfect and ready to shoot!

I like to mix casual poses with serious, since they make for a great variety of both colour and black and white shots. This senior rocked both, with her beautiful smile and serious looks. And she brought this lovely bouquet of flowers as a pretty prop.

Time for an outfit change, and we moved to this pretty gazebo surrounded by greenery. I love how her flowy spring romper matches the light and airy atmosphere of the white gazebo.

I am always looking for natural elements, leading lines and framing when I’m shooting senior portraits, to add interest and variety to your senior session. I particularly like how the wooden gate here matches her au naturale style and the neutral shades of her outfit.

Natural Outdoor Senior Pictures in the Woodlands, Texas

For the second half, we moved around the woods and the waterway area for some more natural senior portraits, using the pretty evening light at golden hour.

Her beautiful eyes just pop against this wall of ivy, and her pose is picture perfect!

Outdoor Senior Pictures in the Woodlands and Spring TX

This gorgeous senior came all the way from Hargrove High for her senior portrait session, and what a beautiful day we had! After her complimentary hair and make up session (all you girls get treated to a fabulous salon day, with your session!), we met at this pretty country location in Spring, TX for a country style shoot out!

We had such pretty light on her session day, making for beautiful senior pictures full of sun and warmth. This sweet dress is perfect for a senior photoshoot — a little flowy, a pretty floral pattern, a pretty shade of lavender, a quirky gold bow, and an elegant top of ruched cream. Lovely!

Another outfit,  a flowy shirt with casual jean shorts. Having a pair of shorts or jeans at your session is always recommended for at least one set, so we can get some great poses that we can’t get with a skirt or dress.

It’s a good idea to choose a location that has different elements to incorporate into your senior session — stairs, building, a bridge, a pretty field with a wide open sky, a country road, or a gazebo. These make for variety in your senior pictures, plus add interest and visual lines. I love these stairs!!

Class of 2015 The Woodlands Senior Photographer

We had such an amazing time at Sheridan’s photoshoot, I was sad to see the sun set and the end of all that gorgeous light! For her senior photography session, we set up early to have enough time to fit all her gorgeous outfits in, and cover every inch of her chosen location, to get as much variety as we could for her senior portraits. She was such a trooper and kept on smiling. Definitely one of the stars of the Class of 2015 senior portrait year here!

We shot right at the edge of where the light met the shadows for some drama.  Those “walking” shots and “twirling” ones are pretty hard to get right, but Sheridan rocked all the poses! For her first outfit, she chose this fun and funky dress – black and white stripes with that brilliant pop of bright blue to set off her amazing eyes.

Time for  a change – second outfit! More casual, to do some seated shots and show off those awesome boots. The amazing make up artist, Monika Gallardo, can do anything with hair! I love the soft curls she did for Sheridan and she somehow works some magic so they stay in for the whole three hour shoot!

Walking around the waterways, we found some amazing colour in the trees. Shooting at the perfect angle, I got the reflection of the trees and that gorgeous colour in the water.

Last outfit change of the night, and we snuck away to shoot in this tiny little forested that was tucked away out of sight. I love being able to find special little places full of gorgeous light! The golden hour light on her long hair, with that ethereal skirt and enchanted forest feel, made for the perfect end to this Class of 2015 senior portrait session.
