The Woodlands Senior Photographer – Senior Style

One thing I love about my job is I get to meet clients here in the Woodlands, Spring and Conroe who are in such a fantastic time in their lives — graduating from high school, getting ready for prom, celebrating their senior year, and looking forward to what the next year has in store for them.  It’s such a fun time, and everyone is always excited!

For senior pictures, we want to wrap all that excitement into a great day of shooting and just having fun! For the girls, their hair and make up has been professionally styled by an amazing stylist I’ve arranged for them, so they’re relaxed and ready for the shoot. I meet with all my clients before the session, so we already know exactly what types of shots we are after!

This lovely senior student from College Park had a fabulous sense of style. Beautiful, colourful and a little quirky! I love the combination of the fun teal dress with the spunky red heels.

High School Senior Portraits – Show Your Uni Pride

It’s your senior year, a time to think about how you got to where you are and also to dream big about the future. When it comes to your senior portraits, you want to pictures to show you as you are now, but also all the amazing things you have to look forward to! So for your senior pictures, bring something along to represent your present accomplishments, such as your high school Letterman jacket or your class ring. And then bring something to represent your upcoming years as a University or College undergrad, or a special trip or internship you have planned. Here’s a few ideas on how to incorporate your upcoming endeavours into your senior portrait session!

WEAR YOUR COLOURS

Are you off to Texas State? Bring some clothing with maroon and gold, to signify where you’ll be at school next year. Or burnt orange and white if you’re off to UT.  This gorgeous young lady is on her way in September to Johns Hopkins University, where she received early acceptance for Pre Med.   Their colours include Columbia blue and she looks amazing in their colours!

What to Wear for Senior Pictures in the Woodlands and Spring – Girly Spring Dress Edition

Getting ready for senior pictures? I have already posted about how to wear your favourite cowboy boots for your senior portraits, so go check out that blog post here: What to Wear for Senior Pictures in the Woodlands and Spring – Cowboy Boots Edition. This time, since it’s spring, let’s talk about those pretty pretty girly dresses we all love to wear when the warm weather finally arrives!

With your senior portrait session here with Shannon Stroubakis, your senior photographer in the Woodlands, Conroe, Oak Ridge, Tomball and Spring, you get THREE hours and all the outfit changes you can cram in there. Awesome, right? So you have your trendy outfit, your favourite jeans, your letterman jacket, and maybe your prom dress or your favourite cosplay costume all packed up and ready to go. To round out your senior portraits, and celebrate spring, consider showing your sweet girly side with a flowy spring dress in an airy neutral or pastel shade, to match the spring flowers.

Choose the colour palette you want to build off, from neutral to vibrant florals, taking into consideration the vibe you want to give off — sweet and innocent, fresh and bright, or airy and emotive.

ADD ACCESSORIES
Glam your outfit up or down with hats, scarves, belts and boots. Go shabby chic with tasseled headpieces and feathers, or boho style with a floral crown with barefeet. Keep the colour tones in mind and try to mesh your accessories so they make sense — natural fibres with earthy toned clothing, petite and girly for feminine and airy sundresses, nude heels with classic styles.

CHOOSE YOUR LOCATION TO MATCH
When we talk about which location suits your personal style best, we’ll go over all your outfit choices and narrow down which location in the Spring and Woodlands area best fit you. It makes sense to to shoot out in a flower field if you are looking for a more au naturale type session, with a spring dress in nature tones. If you want to go glam and trendy and pair your spring dress with heels and shopping bags, we’ll head to a more urban location. It’s all up to you!

Senior Portraits Outdoors – Senior Boy Session in the Woodlands

I realized that I completely forgot to blog this handsome guy’s session from ages ago! One of my first senior boys that I photographed in the Woodlands for his senior portrait sessions, so long ago and still one of my favourite sessions! He had such a classic look, and really great style. We made use of dramatic light in parking garages and canals around the Woodlands area, for a more urban feel to his shoot with lots of concrete, reflections, and directional light.

Class of 2015 The Woodlands Senior Photographer

We had such an amazing time at Sheridan’s photoshoot, I was sad to see the sun set and the end of all that gorgeous light! For her senior photography session, we set up early to have enough time to fit all her gorgeous outfits in, and cover every inch of her chosen location, to get as much variety as we could for her senior portraits. She was such a trooper and kept on smiling. Definitely one of the stars of the Class of 2015 senior portrait year here!

We shot right at the edge of where the light met the shadows for some drama.  Those “walking” shots and “twirling” ones are pretty hard to get right, but Sheridan rocked all the poses! For her first outfit, she chose this fun and funky dress – black and white stripes with that brilliant pop of bright blue to set off her amazing eyes.

Time for  a change – second outfit! More casual, to do some seated shots and show off those awesome boots. The amazing make up artist, Monika Gallardo, can do anything with hair! I love the soft curls she did for Sheridan and she somehow works some magic so they stay in for the whole three hour shoot!

Walking around the waterways, we found some amazing colour in the trees. Shooting at the perfect angle, I got the reflection of the trees and that gorgeous colour in the water.

No senior portrait session would be complete without showing off what made your highschool senior year so special. Bring your class ring, and your letterman jacket, to personalize your session.

Last outfit change of the night, and we snuck away to shoot in this tiny little forested that was tucked away out of sight. I love being able to find special little places full of gorgeous light! The golden hour light on her long hair, with that ethereal skirt and enchanted forest feel, made for the perfect end to this Class of 2015 senior portrait session.

The Woodlands Senior Photography — Hello Gorgeous

What do you get when you put together a gorgeously stylish senior, to die for fall colour and amazing golden hour light? This most perfect senior session in the Woodlands at peak fall season with the stunning Claire.

For the Luxe Senior Sessions, my girls get the royal treatment with hair and make up styling with Monika at her private salon room,  suited to each girl’s personal style. Then we get started at the first location, with the first of the unlimited outfit changes to kick off the photoshoot. For Claire, we wanted to have one location that incorporated a variety of elements like concrete and stone, for an urban feel, but that also had some fall colour. And, importantly, we wanted to use landmarks of the Woodlands, so the location would be identifiable and pay homage to her hometown.

Then a switch to something a little more quirky and unique.  I love this whole ensemble for senior portraits. The layered look is perfect for fall, and it combines some flattering neutral tones with a bright pop of colour.  Add the hat and drop the sweater, and it’s a whole new look.

Don’t forget to bring your letterman jacket! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many patches on one jacket as I did on this musical girl!

One last outfit change to round out the senior portrait session with a soft casual look. We had the most amazingly gorgeous light at the end of the day, with the warm autumn sun peeking through the trees.

Senior Photography in The Woodlands, TX

Another fabulous senior from this season, Miss Madison, for her Class of 2015 senior portraits! When we met for our pre consultation, we oohed and awwed over the awesome outfits we were going to feature in her senior session  to match the location. She came with some pretty gorgeous outfits, and that white dress was just perfect for the field location. What to wear for your senior portraits is such a big question, so we very carefully go over all your options before the session, to make sure the colours, textures and accessories all go together for tonal harmony and make sense with the chosen locations.  She chose the Luxe Senior Session, which includes hair and make up styling before the big shoot.

We started with a more casual style, with boots and a bright pop of red. She wanted her senior pictures to showcase natural elements, like trees and flowers, with wood textures in the background to match her more natural style. And these bright flowers were the perfect accent for her first outfit of the shoot!

An outfit change, from country style to soft and trendy. When she first showed me this shirt, I knew she had to include it for her senior photos! A gorgeous shade of blue that matched her eyes, and an interesting unusual pattern,  combined with that flowy airy texture, really made for an eye popping combination against the rustic wood backdrop.

Miss Maddie wanted a full half of her senior portrait session to include this stunning white dress. With the last outfit change, we headed out to a wide open field and country road, to catch the gorgeous light on the just-about-to-turn-fall-colours trees and long grasses.

The Woodlands Senior Photographer – Classic Senior Portraits

When I met this sweet and gorgeous girl for her styling consultation, I just knew her senior portrait session would be a breeze. Such a down to earth and natural girl, with her great sense of humour and fabulous smile. Not to mention such a classic beauty, with a great sense of fashion.

For Miss Lauren’s senior pictures, the vision was for classically beautiful portraits with clean lines and natural but elegant posing.  She chose a party dress for the first portion of her shoot, as a sophisticated young lady, with graceful posing.

With an outfit change, she goes from posh to trendy. We used some available stairs and neutral concrete to really bring out the contrast in these black and white portraits. Love how they make her look so fierce!

With a senior session, we shoot in two locations over three hours, to make sure you get variety and lots of outfit changes in there. We headed out of the urban area towards nature, and her wardrobe reflects the soft beauty of the location. A pretty dress always looks perfect for this part of the shoot, and this blue shade is stunning with her blonde hair and light eyes.

One last outfit change, and into this heavenly field of flowers and tall grasses. That gorgeous golden light is why we shoot towards sunset, to infuse your senior pictures with a luminous glow.

BFF or Sisters Senior Sessions – The Woodlands Senior Portraits

There’s always that one person who has been there for you through thick and thin. Maybe your childhood BFF, your high school bestie, or your sister or cousin. The one you do everything with and celebrate all your milestones. As you enter your senior year of high school and are looking for your senior photographer in Spring or the Woodlands, think about how fun it would be to have your senior portraits taken with your BFF!

Senior Photographer Oak Ridge High School

Ready for Part 2 of Celenia’s amazing senior pictures? I already featured Part 1 here, so check out the first half of her senior portraits where we went on location for some architectural elements to add interest and flair to her high school graduation photos. She has such an amazing sense of style, and when we headed out to the country for the second half of her senior session she brought along a few outfits that perfectly fit the earthy country chic look.

Another outfit change into this sweet peach summer dress, with lace accents. This little country road was a perfect spot, and we found some purple flowers for some creative senior portraits to go above and beyond. You want your senior pictures to be unique, and show all sides to your personality.

One last outfit change as the sun is starting to set! Using a wide angle lens, you get a sense of drama you can’t get with standard portrait lenses. I’m all about variety, and using different angles and lenses to get the right look for each pose.  I love the sassy poses Celenia has here, a bit of a rockstar edge with the black shirt and trendy high waisted shorts. Girl has some style!

Gorgeous Golden Light – Senior Pictures in Spring TX

Timing is everything. The light is so gorgeously mellow and warm in the last hour before the sun sets, and this is when magic happens, truly. Since a senior portrait session with Shannon Stroubakis is up to three hours long so we can fit in all your outfit changes over the locations, your session is carefully planned so the locations, light, and outfits all coordinate together perfectly.

Beautiful Khrissy booked her senior session with me and after she had her make up professionally done we headed out to the woods to catch some gorgeous backlighting on her amazing ombre hair. We were looking for the perfect spot to shoot some pictures for her senior graduation announcements!

Khrissy had some seriously amazing styling happening! The boho style headband was simple and natural, just perfect for our outdoors locations. Then a quick outfit change, she goes from au naturale to girly and glam. I always advise my senior clients to wear heels or espadrilles for their high school senior pictures. They elongate the legs for a gracelook look and force you into perfect posture which helps with posing.  This little peach dress is a great example of what to wear for your senior portraits for when you want a feminine style – dreamy, flowy in the breeze, and a pretty soft colour that photographs well. It’s also the perfect length for senior portraits — short enough for the hot spring day but not a micro mini so it’s still possible to be comfortable and modest for seated poses. And she rocked those poses!

Oak Ridge High School Senior Portraits

With two locations and multiple outfit changes, I simply have to split Celenia’s senior portrait session into two posts since we got so many amazing photos of her! This is Part 1 of her senior photoshoot shot in the Woodlands, with her first two wardrobe choices.We shot for unique perspectives using architectural framing and different angles, for some truly distinct senior pictures. No cookie cutter senior photos here that look like everyone else at your school.

When we met before her senior session for the Pre Consultation, we went over all her outfits and matched them with the types of locations she felt best suit her own personal style. With her beautiful dark hair and gorgeous skin, she opted for bright pops of colour, bold but still feminine with the twirly skirt and super high heels. Love her fashion sense!  Celenia booked the Senior Luxe session, which includes both hair and make up artist styling, and was perfectly glammed up for her pictures. Time for an outfit change (Fashion Tip: note she still opted for high heels, which makes your frame longer and leaner and helps with perfect posture!) for a different look. When shooting senior portraits, I really want you to showcase all sides of you and wardrobe is one way we express our personality so I encourage all my high school seniors to bring as many outfits as you can fit into your three hour photoshoot.  It’s all about variety and capturing all those different looks that make you unique.
