Graduation and Glitter – The Woodlands Seniors

Graduation celebration – with glitter! When you’re a senior, there’s a lot to celebrate. You’re upcoming high school graduation, your freshman year of college coming up, a whole new life starting, it’s a fantastic time! For your senior pictures or for a special grad portrait mini session, here’s a few ideas for some fun senior grad portraits.

GLITTER. Always a fun shot! Bring glitter that matches your school colours if you can. If not, gold is a great choice since it catches the sunlight perfectly.

HAND SIGNALS.  You probably already know where you’re headed come September. Texas schools especially are known for having unique hand signals for their schools. Learn yours so you can show friends and family where you’re off to next year. Also bring your COLLEGE SHIRT. A great idea for sharing on Instagram with your new school. Wear your shirt, upload the photo and tag the school to share in the fun. Also a great shot for announcements!

Graduation Portraits – The Woodlands Senior Photographer

This golden glowing light is the most beautiful setting for a senior portrait session in the Woodlands, for natural portraits outdoors. This is the beautiful golden hour we wait for, at the end of the session, to surround you with a gorgeous glow for your senior pictures! This senior chose one of the most photogenic colours as well – blue for the first part of her session and shades of fuchsia and raspberry for this latter half of her senior pictures. It matches the greenery perfectly, and is a beautiful tone for your senior portraits.

What to Bring for your Senior Photoshoot – A Quick List

The day of your senior photoshoot is going to be quite busy, so make sure you don’t forget the essentials! Before you head out for your complimentary professional make up application appointment, make sure to pack up these important items into the car:

  1. A pair of jeans, or other pants, so we can take some seated poses on the grass or stairs.
  2. Some hair clips, in case we get a windy day!
  3. Your hobby showcase – instrument, sport equipment, fave book etc
  4. Flats or flip flops for walking around the location. Don’t get stuck tripping around in your heels or barefeet!
  5. A compact, to check on make up. Bring some gloss for touch ups, as well.
  6. A BIG BAG to put all your accessories and water bottle in.

The Woodlands High School Photographer Senior Boys

Sessions for senior boys is really one of my fave types of shoots – the guys are always laid back  and willing to please their mamas to get some great shots to remember senior year. The hour flies by, and they cooperate so well when asked to do simple poses. And posing for seniors boys is SO easy they won’t feel like they’re being posed at all. There are some go-to poses that I always use for my senior guys that are guaranteed to please both the seniors and the parents. We aim for natural, relaxed and easy going to capture their natural charm.

Hunter was no exception! A really nice guy who patiently put up with my camera for an hour with a smile and no complaints. Thanks for the great session!

Graduation Announcements – The Woodlands Senior Pictures

Custom designed senior and graduation announcements are the perfect way to get exactly what you want, in the style you want, to get your message to your friends and family. I work with seniors and parents to choose the best size, style, and design for your needs. Flat cards, in either 5×5 or 5×7 size, are a cost effective option. Or you can choose a more elaborate 5×5 or 5×7 trifold card, to add more images and text. All announcements come in packs of 25, and include envelopes. There are dozens of press paper card stock options, from environmentally friendly recycled eco-matte to luxuriant enhanced linen or felt textured paper. I have swatches in my office, to show you exactly how these press papers look and feel.

Simple flat cards highlight a few of your fave shots, with a small space on the front or back for the main text.

Trifold cards allow you to put more images and text, and more creativity when designing. Depending on if your card is a simple grad announcement, or a party invitation, your design can include the senior’s name, high school information, date of graduation or party, the University or College the student will be attending in the fall with the chosen major, and any specific notes your friends and family would need to know for the grad party.

Gorgeous Senior Session The Woodlands

This amazing girl was so easy to photograph with her  glowing skin and easy smile! A Woodlands High senior on her way to university next year, she brought along some of the most photogenic colours as well – the deep rich burgundy and light blue are very camera friendly. The Musician Senior Photographer The Woodlands

Time flies, and I’m seeing the younger siblings of my past senior clients coming in for their turn! This young man is the younger brother of one of my seniors from a previous graduating class from the Klein area, you can see big brother’s senior pictures here. For his turn, this class of 2017 senior brought his own props along too – his guitar! I always have fun taking senior pictures that showcase a hobby or skill, it makes the portraits so much more personal and representative! I’m so pleased I could meet this family and the boys have a matching set of great portraits for their wall canvas collage. And mom now has some great wall art!

Bright and Colourful Senior Session – The Woodlands Photographer

This sweet senior had a perfect day for her senior session in the Woodlands and Spring — sun soaked, light breeze, perfect temperature. Her outfit choices are worth noting here – notice how gorgeous that bright purple colour looks? How it makes the image pop so much more, and adds interest? Adding a pop of colour to your senior session makes a huge difference in the final image!  She also matched her outfits to the various backdrops very well. For the sunny, natural setting she wore neutrals and soft colours, against the more urban backdrops she had black accessories, dark pants and boots. Pulling it all together like this makes for a successful senior session!

When it comes to senior boys, they want simple and fast. Moms want some great shots of their sons before they head out to college, classic portraits for yearbooks and keepsakes. Celebrating Graduation – The Woodlands Photographer

This lovely young lady just graduated college, so to celebrate her shiny  new diploma she commissioned me to take some beautiful portraits of her to share with friends and family! Lufkin Senior Photographer – Golden Light

For the second half of this Lufkin senior’s session, we left the shopping district featured in the first half of her session to go out into the park among the greenery. We were hoping to catch some gorgeous golden light on the leaves, as a change of pace from shooting around the shops and market street of her first location. And we found it! Her beautiful and airy white dress was the perfect compliment to the natural environment in the park. We also made sure to shoot a few in her cap and gown, for graduation announcements. And of course, with her Aggie banner, so she can announce to the world where she will be matriculating next year!

Senior Portraits – Urban Shopping District

This gorgeous senior came all the way from Lufkin for her senior portraits, and we had a lot of fun shooting around the shopping district for some fun, colourful urban senior portraits! This is the first half of her senior session, in the more urban style location before we moved out into the park.

I really love shooting around the streets, in front of the shops, under the terraces and on the staircases, using reflective surfaces like the black stone and windows to add some interest! It’s a nice, fast change of pace from the leisurely shoots in the field, adding a bit of glitz and glamour to your senior shoot if you have more of an urban inspired personality! Pretty in Blue – Senior Photography in the Woodlands

For the second part of this senior session, we had the most beautiful light in the field! This senior has a very pretty, feminine personal style (she told me she LOVES bows!) so the overall style, props and poses were cute and girly to match her adorable smile.  This session was all  soft colours, lace and billowy dresses, natural soft light and sunshine, and this pretty little lace umbrella I brought for the session for her to pose with.  She was a natural with her big blue eyes and delicate posing! So many of the images from her senior session ended up in prints, as portraits and in her senior announcements. I’m always pleased to see beautiful client images come to life in prints and products!

Senior Portrait Photographer – The Woodlands, TX

For the second half of this senior session in the Woodlands, this Woodlands High School senior brought this gorgeous peach dress with a lace overlay for pretty portraits in the spring flowers. She brought along this special family quilt, to personalize her senior session with personal items, which is always a nice touch for your portrait session! She also wanted to take headshots and a full length portrait for her for rushing for sorority at her chosen university, so we set aside some time to make sure she had some gorgeous pictures for submission. And finally, a few shots with her school ring as a keepsake to remember her accomplishments senior year. This session was full of special items and moments!

Montgomery Country Senior Photographer – Glowing Gold

This gorgeous senior session is one of my all time favourites, for the amazing light we had during her senior session and the perfect styling! This Woodlands senior had the fantastic luck to have a gorgeous day for her senior portraits, with the golden sun glowing at sundown and all the flowers recently in bloom, adding up to a pretty romantic setting to match her dress! Bringing along a few accessories, like this pretty white spring hat, adds more variety to your session and some fashion flair.

Flowers and Sunlight – The Woodlands Senior Photographer

The second half of this senior’s session was full of beautiful golden sunlight, with flowers in the field. The first half of her session was more fun and dramatic, so for the second half she chose some pretty, girly outfits to match the field location in spring colours. The red dress is perfect against the greenery, and the blue sundress was the special highlight outfit of her session, a touch of boho for her senior portraits with a carefree vibe.  It all came together for a perfect spring senior session!
